The biggest threat to a private practitioner is the fact that we’re trading time for money. In other words, when we’re not in the chair, and a client isn’t on the couch, we’re not making money (unless in the case of a group practice, etc.). That means that therapists today need to build additional revenue streams to make money even when they’re not in session.
